AMY KOBAK WINS "PATCH SPRINT SOUTH"
Wilmington, NC:  July 10--  Two-time Patch Sprint relay Champion Amy Daley-Kobak outsprinted a field of elite runners to capture the 2004 Patch Sprint South.
The event, held in conjunction with the wedding of Greg Henderson and Lesley Johnson, was staged in 90-degree heat along roads, waterfront boardwalk, and through a hotel lobby in downtown Wilmington.
Initially, Carrie Howard-Canning was believed to have been the winner, as she reached the finish some six minutes ahead of the main pack.  It was, however, later revealed that Howard-Canning had taken a short cut, and had also bypassed the mandatory "hotel lobby" segment of the race.
PATCH SPRINT "SOUTH" runners included:  Jason Fiegl, Sami Daley, Mike Daley, Greg Henderson, Amy Kobak, Carrie Howard-Canning, Jim Kobak, Tim Singer and Kelly Zimmerman.
