| MEET THE PATCH SPRINTERS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Five Questions with..... Josh Bornt: Clydesdale | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Call him the biggest advocate for the big guy. 26 year-old Josh Bornt was the original Clydesdale. A true full-figured athlete, Bornt, of Guilderland, NY, has excelled in both basketball and volleyball. But it's his love for the Pok-O Patch that may be unsurpassed. While his colleagues on the Pok-O-MacCready summer staff are busy bagging 46ers, Bornt is more than happy to lead his campers up Bare, Rattlesnake, Sugarloaf and Pok-O-Moonshine. A special education instructor during the off-season, Bornt has been involved in the past four Patch Sprints, including a third place Clydesdale finish in 2004. |

| 1. What is the best part about the Patch Sprint?
The best part of the Patch Sprint is getting to see everyone and getting to just hang out at camp. It's one of the four steps during the year that Pok-O junkies use to get through the off-season and back to the summer. Plus, it's fun watching everyone pass me as I struggle up Pok-O. 2. What is the biggest challenge of the Patch Sprint? The biggest challenge of the Patch Sprint is that I'm chubby and I hate to run. 3. What is your training regimen for the event? My training regiman for this years race......thats a good question. I want to gain weight but get faster. (Note: Entrants in the Clydesdale division receive one minute off of their gross time for each pound over 200 that they weigh) I've been going to the gym and eating tons of chicken wings. The only year I really trained I got hurt and couldn't run, so I figure training for real is just bad luck. 4. What are your goals for the 2006 Patch Sprint.? My goal for the PatchSsprint this year is to better my time instead of making it worse. Other than that I'd like to talk Chuck Norris into running with me in order to increase my motivational level during the race. 5. What advice would you give someone who has never done the Patch Sprint? The night before spend some quality time with Drew Canning at Bunny's.... Back track down Bare: It's way faster.... Don't cut through the Homestead to get to Rattlesnake.... Ignore those flags on the way down Sugarloaf... And its easier to get to Pok-O if you get a ride with state troopers. Just have fun with it; its a great weekend. |
