HEATED COMPETITION ECHOS HEATED PRESIDENTIAL RACE

Patch Sprint race officials and event organizers today unveiled the logo for the 2008 edition, scheduled for May 23-25 in Willsboro, NY.      For the eighth consecutive year, the logo was designed by noted artist James B. Kobak III of Peru (See all past logos here).  "I have been riveted by the extensive media coverage of the 2008 Presidential primaries," writes Kobak.  "All I do is sit in front of the TV and watch CNN, MSNBC, Fox News ('They report, I decide') and, my favorite, The Daley Show."  The quotes from, and spin about candidates John McCain, Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama have inspired Kobak.  "This is a much more dramatic race than anything I'll be involved in on the slopes of Mount Pok-O-Moonshine."

It is unclear whether or not the three candidates (seen, right, during a joint campaign stop at the 2007 Patch Sprint) will be entered into this year's race.  "Last year when I was there, rocks were whizzing by me all the way up Pok-O," said Clinton.  Obama mentioned that "I may make it is far as rural Willsboro, but I'll need to stop there and placate the bitter small town people.  I may still make it to the event, but I'll have to check with my Pastor on that."  As for McCain, his spokesman said, simply, "Race.  What race?  Let them fight it out!  Although, there's nothing the senator enjoys more than a long, protracted war."

While the candidates themselves may not make it to the event, participants, during this heated election campaign, will have the chance to vote.  "We have offered up three different T-shirt colors," said Kobak, "grey, Italian blue and pink.  All the shirts will have the small round crest on the front, with the voter ballot appearing full on the back."  The artist stopped short of connecting a specific candidate with a specific color.  "We don't care who you're voting for for President; we just want to have a proper count on how many, of each color, t-shirts we need to order."

VOTE ON THE T-SHIRT COLOR OF YOUR CHOICE                                                        CLICK ON THIS LINK TO VOTE     Interim Race Director Greg Henderson asks that "in order to vote, you must already be a registered racer, trekker, volunteer, donor or friend that has indicated your shirt size on your registration form.  For us to have an accurate count of shirts, and to insure that everyone receives one, please register for the event as early as possible.  Remember:  The event fee goes up after April 30."
