"FROM THOSE BONDS"
Original Song Captures Spirit of Patch Sprint
He's been attending the Patch Sprint for only three years, but already Joe Mattimore has been captivated by the sights, the sounds, the feel and the spirit of the annual adventure race.
Mattimore (pictured below with his family), a past trekker and 2008 event volunteer is a semi-professional musician in the Buffalo, NY area.  His original tune- "From Those Bonds"- premiered at the 2008 Patch Sprint banquet slide presentation.  The lyrics appear below.

FROM THOSE BONDS

Our paths are made of dirt and stone
We weave together not alone
Underneath the northern sky
Granite sentinels we climb

Chill of rain or warmth of sun
From the pillars we will run
A trek to champion ourselves
Drawing deep from inner wells

Bringing love to the North Country
Like a summer evening on Long Pond
Bringing love that only friends can bring
Forming family from those bonds

A patch to represent the peaks
And the goals within us that we seek
Your mind and body to the fight
"Janny" and "MacCready" in your sight

You train your best the time is now
If Bare and Rattlesnake allow
To Sugarloaf go lead your charge
Poko tower looming large

Bringing love to the North Country
Like a summer evening on Long Pond
Bringing love that only friends can bring
Forming family from those bonds

All the while won’t you think of me
When you’re on top
Spirit in our hearts is reaching
I feel it rising up

Our paths are made of dirt and stone
Beneath our feet we find our home
The roof above a northern sky
Within our family resides

Bringing love to the North Country
Like a summer evening on Long Pond
Bringing love that only friends can bring
Forming family from those bonds
Forming family from those bonds
