PATCH SPRINT TO GO HIGH TECH IN '08

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR PATCH SPRINT 2008

January 10, 2008 - Willsboro, NY- Inspired by this year's Consumer Electronics Show, the Patch Sprint has decided it will go high tech in 2008.  Event coordinators are excited about the possibilities for the Patch Sprint.

Some ideas floating around are a "virtual sprint" in which viewers from home can track the movements of their favorite participants, and a "virtual spectator" in which participants can track the movements of their favorite at-home spectators.
Patch Sprint traditionalists feel that the high tech hoopla  is unnecessary and that the Patch Sprint simply needs to stick with what has worked in the past.
"We don't need virtual anything" says longtime sprinter Ken "Squeaky" Herz.  "What we need is more gosh darn Kobakathon," continued Herz referring to the delicious energy drink produced by five time sprint champion Jim Kobak.

Besides the possible forays into high tech gadgets, this year's Patch Sprint promises:

*Plans for the carbo-load dinner / expo scheduled for Friday, May 23

*A goal to surpass last year's ADK Scholarship donation of $2500

*Shorter banquet

*Limited edition T-shirts (for all who register before May 1st)

*Finishing medals for all finishers in all divisions

*Post-race BBQ and slide presentation

*A memorable reunion for the entire Pok-O family
Virtual race fans will have the chance to be at the start of the race, and meet the competitors close-up.

                                 MOSCATO TAKES THE EARLY LEAD

Patch Sprint registration officially went live at 11:00am today, and at 11:07 veteran racer
Matt Moscato (left, in front, naturally) was first out of the gate.
"I knew that registration began on Jan. 10 and I can't motivate myself to train until I'm officially entered into the race," said Moscatto.  "I don't think I could have spent a single day more of eating Ring Dings and sitting on the couch.  Now I'm set to go out and train!"
Moscato first entered the Patch Sprint in 2002, enjoying a personal best time of 2:41:58 in 2003.
Three others- Jacob Gittler, Pam Cataldi-Gittler and Brian Wells- also registered on opening day.
