| NATION TURNS TO PATCH SPRINT FOR ECONOMIC STIMULUS WASHINGTON, DC, April 14-- On this day before Tax Day, and with America's most important sporting event just over five weeks away, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S.Bernanke is turning to the Patch Sprint to get the nation out of it's troubled financial woes. "The Patch Sprint is all about a new beginning," said Bernanke. "Spring time, reaching for the heights. While runners and trekkers are getting themselves in shape, the economy is also getting stronger by the mile. As far as generating interest, participants and dollars, the Patch has surpassed even the Kentucky Derby and the Indy 500 as 'America's Sporting Event' in the month of May." The Fed. Chairman concluded by saying, "In this spirit of growth, I'm predicting a new champion at this year's Patch Sprint. Hey, if I can replace an old codger like Greenspan, then one of these young racers can beat Jim Kobak or Jason Fiegl!" Speaking of Kobak, for the ninth consecutive year, he is credited with the design of the Patch Sprint logo (see past logos here). The dollar sign, featuring the Pok-O-Moonshine fire tower, serial date and and Blue Boar signature will appear on the front crest of the limited edition T-shirt. The optimistic graph, mirroring the Patch Sprint course profile, along with the elevation stock ticker will adorn the back of the shirt. Supplies are limited, and with close to 60 already entered into the event, over half of the shirts are already spoken for, |

| HUGE DONATION For the secind straight year, the Goldie Anna Charitable Trust has given a substantial donation to the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation, through the Patch Sprint. The Chappaqua, NY based trust is actively involved in providing community and charity work in the greater New York area. It's connection with the Patch Sprint comes via several family members who have attended Pok-O-MacCready Camps, and taken part in the Patch Sprint. "We cannot begin to show our appreciation," gushed Tim Singer, co-director of the event and administrator to the ADK Foundation. "We are so grateful to Goldie Anna, as well as all of our donors. We are now well on our way to meeting our fund raising goals for this year's Patch Sprint. |

| The Fresco Trail Mystery
While training for a possible sixth Patch Sprint title, racer Jim Kobak discovered a "new" trail on the Patch Sprint course: "After spending Easter Sunday morning listening to Dimmu Borgir and Deicide, I decided to go for a Sugarloaf/ Bare Mt. combo run. As I was heading up the ‘Loaf, I noticed that some artsy-types had posted engraved golden signs designating this route as the “Fresco Trail.” Now, I like painting on plaster as much as the next guy, but I had always known this route as the 'Sugarloaf Trail' or 'the Trail up Sugarloaf' or some times as the 'Sugarloaf trail up Sugarloaf.”' "Needless to say, it is a mystery as to who renamed the trail. Perhaps a group of adventure racing art history majors have moved into the Willsboro/Reber area. Could this be the handiwork of noted hardcore racing art aficionado, David Kvam?" |
