Willsboro, NY, April 20-  With 73 participants already entered into the 2009 Patch Sprint- on pace for a record turnout- The field of racers and trekkers is looking like a veritable United Nations of adventure racing.
     There are entrants from six different countries, including Japan, Russia, Great Britian and, of course, Peru.  Furthermore, the entry list features several eager youngsters, looking to cover the entire course.  "We have three teenagers in men's open," said race director
Greg Henderson, "including an 11-year old racer.  Our women's open division has at least one teenager, and there is a nine-year old trekker.  If he completes the course, he'll be the youngest ever Patch Sprinter!"  (See Full Lineup)

     Henderson, and the event planning committee want to insure that everyone, regardless of age,  participates in the proper division, and at the most appropriate starting time.  "With our rising numbers and all of the different divisions, people can understandably be confused."
   
Hopefully, this will clear some things up:
                             AGE REQUIREMENTS:

10 and under: 
Must be chaperoned and may enter the Kindersprint, or trek the course.
11-17: 
May race or trek the course with a guardian, chaperone or "buddy".
18-39: 
May trek; or race in the open or clydesdale division.
40 and over: 
May take part in any division (except KinderSprint)

                    CHAMPIONSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
- Victory in the MEN'S OPEN division and/or OVERALL CHAMPION (“The Janny”) will be     recognized from the 10:00am start only .

- Victory in the
WOMEN'S OPEN division and/or OVERALL WOMENS CHAMPION        
  (Women's Trophy) will be recognized from the
9:00 or 10:00am start only .

MASTERS and CLYDESDALE champions may come from any start (8, 9, 10).
