     As of March 26, the field is nearly halfway to its limit of 104 racers and trekkers.  “In both 2008 and 2009, we cut off registration prior to the race,” exclaimed race co-chairman Tim Singer, “but that was a matter of days before.  This year is looking like we could close out in early to mid May.”

     Aside from the strict limit on racers and trekkers- in place due to both logistical and environmental concerns- there will be a limit on number of total attendees.  “With our meals, lodging, and parties,”  stated Greg Henderson, the event’s other co-chair, “the facilities can only accommodate so many people.  In addition, T-shirts, race aid

supplies and other amenities will be available only to participants who have registered by a certain date, still to be determined.”

     Every racing division is represented, and predicted to be competitive, with record numbers expected in both Men’s and Women’s Masters.  “We have a lot of new entrants this year,” said Singer; “friends of friends.  The Pok-O-MacCready family has not been quick to register and I hope they don’t get left behind.”  Henderson added, “The annual return rate for the Patch Sprint (85%) is awesome so I know that our core group of racers, trekkers and volunteers are out there.  I just hope we don’t have to turn them away.”

     As always, the fee to register goes up at the end of April.  “We usually have a big influx of registrants at that time.  Let’s just see if it’ll even matter this year,” said Henderson.
