Unless you’ve been on a distant planet, away from the internet and Pok-O-MacCready gossip, then you know that the Patch Sprint has grown- every year- to become one of the North Country’s premier adventure events, and Pok-O-MacCready’s largest annual reunion. “2008 was the first year we had to close out registration,” stated event co-chair Tim Singer

. “But that was the day before the event! Last year, it was early in the week of the event.”
For 2010, registration for racers and trekkers closed out over a month prior to the May 29 race date. “We reached our maximum sustainable number for people covering the entire course,” announced Greg Henderson, co-chair and head of finances. “Too bad too, because the fee goes up May 1 and we usually can collect a little extra from the late registrants”
Race director Erin Canning was quick to point out that the event is still open, just not for racers. “We still have about 25-30 spots for people who’d like to volunteer, or to donors who just want to come, hang out, watch the race and enjoy the parties.” In addition, a waiting list has been established for tardy racers and trekkers. “We usually have a few people drop out in the days and weeks prior,” said Canning. “This year we will be able to pool from our waiting list, with a premium placed on past participation, contacting us early, and pledging a generous donation.”
