For the 2016 Patch Sprint, the maximum age for the Kindersprint division has been raised from 10 to 11.

"We caved to huge pressure from our clients," admitted co-event director Greg Henderson.  "Meaning, two families with 11-year olds registered for Kindersprint.  Since this was no doubt due to our lack of clear communication on division criteria, we figured, 'Why not!'"

Patch Sprinters aged 11 and under our still also welcome to trek the entire course, as long as they are accompanied the entire way.

Race officials have not announced what they will do in the event that a Kindersprint course record is set by an 11-year old.  "We may need to treat this like sports world views Barry Bond's career home run record," said Henderson.
