Jeremy Drowne (West Chazy, NY) and Shelley Field (Rutland, VT) raced to easy wins at the inaugural Pond Sprint Adventure race, held October 11 along the shore and mountains of Long Pond, in Willsboro, NY.
By winning the 12-mile race, the duo receive automatic invitations into the 2016 Patch Sprint. Neither athlete has previously raced in the spring event. "There are not a lot of open spots for the Patch," said event director Tim Singer, "and some years it fill up before registration can open to the public. So, it's great to be able to invite these two worthy runners into next year's race!" Drown and Field defeated a small, but impressive group of racers that included former Patch Sprint champions.
