![]() The two-time defending Patch Sprint men's and women's champions have each decided to sit out the 2017 event. 2015 & 2016 overall champion Austin Huneck stated he is "not happy with the putrid level of prize money," and will be racing instead that day at the Prefontaine Games in Eugene, Oregon. Meantime, while three-peater Patty Hurlburt continues to train this spring on course, she will be content to just "kick back and watch others duke it out on race day." Event officials have assured Hurlburt that - should she get the last minute itch to run - there's a spot for her. (See full 2016 results HERE) However, rest assured, the race for the "Janny" will be fierce-- perhaps the most hotly contested in years. The field is made up of three different champion-contending groups: Past winners... Emerging stars... Stellar newcomers.
