![]() It's as sure as the swamp near the Northway tunnel. It's as dependable as Sarah Disney at the Homestead aid station. It's Jason Fiegl winning the winter Patch Sprint with a successful attempt in the final days of the season. On Thursday, March 19, Fiegl successfully negotiated the course to capture his seventh winter world champion of the world title. He has also won the Patch Sprint a record six times. Fiegl's time of four hours, 19 minutes and 12 seconds matched that of a previous successful winter sprint, made in January by Tim Singer and Mike Taptick. "I did the run after school today," Fiegl reported Thursday. "(I) had one of my best runs ever and loved being out there. Cold and windy, but sunny. Hard packed snow but a good amount of post-holeing. The chimney was an adventure!" Due to the conditions, Fiegl was well off of the winter course record, which he set in late March 2012, posting a time of 2:53:27, on a warm day with no snow on the course.
