After several years of competitor requests, along with exploration from the race committee, the Patch Sprint has instituted a new division- The Filly Division- for this year's event.
Similar to the Clydesdale division for men, the Filly's will be a women's only racing division. To be eligible, women must weigh 145 pounds or more on race day.
There is, however, one significant difference between the Clydesdales and Fillies:
"The Filly division will not have a weight handicap," said event co-founder Tim Singer. "While the Clydesdale group will still receive one minute off of their time for each pound over 200, the Filly division will be a straight time contest amongst the racers. This decision was reached after speaking to past Clydesdales, and some of the prospective Filly entrants."
