Patch Sprint 2025: Seeing Double
2025 Race Report
For the first time since 2013, the Patch Sprint was facing a weekend with constant cloud cover, temperatures in the 40s, and constant precipitation. In the 12 years since, there has been abundant sunshine, increasing participation and faster times. Due to the increasing talent, depth and course knowledge of the racing field, there had never been a year in which the Men’s and Women’s racing divisions had both had repeat winners, until now! Jeremy Gundrum (1:55:44) and Elizabeth Disney (2:24:40) both retained their titles in a historic result for the Patch Sprint. Both Disney and Gundrum made their moves into 1st place on Rattlesnake and never looked back, a remarkably early moment in the race to grab the lead for good.
ADK Run Club standouts Samantha Curtis (2:34:11) and Annie Preston (2:46:52) rounded out the women’s podium with some nice PRs given the sloppy course conditions. On the Men’s side, Kurt Schuler (2:01:58) turned in a personal best performance to capture 2nd place, while 2-time champion Michael Brockway (2:02:35) put down another stellar time in his 4th career Patch Sprint podium finish. Disney, Gundrum
Longtime Patch Sprint followers will certainly recognize the Janny, held by Gundrum, given to the top overall finisher. Yet new for 2025, The Patch Sprint wanted to implement a new award to be earned by the top female racer, dubbed “The PaMoLy” and to be adorned with the Patch logo and past champions of the Women’s Racing division. The pair expressed gratitude and appreciation for what the Patch Sprint represents, citing the fun competition, sense of community and great cause to support.
To recap the rest of the winners, Tim Seston (4:13:31 gross) cruised to a victory in the Clydesdale Division, finishing alongside his son, Owen. The Half-Sprint saw Pok-O MacCready campers and standout high school runners Leo Ziff (0:37:57) and Olivia Drowne (0:46:27) put down impressive performances. In the Kindersprint, Eddie Chromczak (0:22:32) smashed his own course record with a time that rivals what the best racers can do on their own ascents of Poke-o.

Tales from the Trail
Despite the tough course conditions, there were several strong PRs that were achieved in 2025. Pond Sprint Champion Timo Ziegler ran a strong race in his Patch debut. Luke Moffett brought several friends from college and they all ran PRs. Eli LaBrake became the first 13 year old to break the 3-hour mark on the new, lengthened course. Sam Ziff, age 15 came in just before LaBrake in his first Patch Sprint. 3 time champion Cole Starkey was a surprise late entry, and casually came in under 3 hours with longtime friend Andy Hill. Patch veteran Sarah Green ran a strong PR and will look to break 3 hours in 2026. Shauna Fliss recaptured the family crown from her mother, Gege Fliss for the first time since 2023. Pam Gonzalez once again finished within minutes of 3:50, her 6th such finish of her last 7 sprints. Tim Singer showed plenty of heart, completing the course for the first time since 2019. Stephanie Lylis completed her women’s record 23rd Patch Sprint. Katie Moffett became the 2nd woman to join the 20 Patch Sprint completion club.
Wrap Up
This year, we managed to raise $22,015.47 to support The Adirondack Scholarship Foundation! This level of fundraising is only possible thanks to the selfless generosity of the donors. 2025 brought on some nasty weather that made volunteers’ jobs more difficult than the racers, so thanks to everyone who donned the raincoats and supported the event this year! We’d like to give another thank you to Pok-O MacCready Camps for being wonderful hosts, our corporate sponsors, Rexel Foundation, Schluter Systems and Stewart’s Shops, and our in-camp-family awards providers, Homestead Maple and Doc’s Oldkinda Cookies!
The Patch Sprint is very grateful to have such a wonderful supporting cast. The event has been growing at an insane pace over the past decade and we can not thank everyone enough. We hope to see everyone at Pond Sprint this October, and at Patch Sprint 2026.
With love and appreciation,
Andrew Gonzalez
